This is a mix I’ve been wanting to make for many years. It turns out I was able to do it live, as my residency at Ramrod began a new monthly 90s house party, and they had me play the first one.
Most of the tracks in this mix represent my very favorite music from that renaissance era, the tracks that influenced me most in my youth. What a time to be that age! It was a true job preparing the setlist and acquiring digital versions for the best quality, with some mashups and remasters I worked on specifically for the gig.
Many of these tracks have appeared in previous mixes of mine, but few have been played live. So it was wonderful to finally get them all off my chest in a single live set. And there will also be some very obvious hits in here. Some to set the tone of a new monthly party, but also because we were having a blast and singing along so I couldn’t resist.
But I still delivered a specially curated selection of personal underground faves and even got into some of that progressive sound that was rocking Europe in the early 90s, which truly inspired my forthcoming techno sound.
True fans of the genre will recognize almost all of these tracks. Other fans of my older sets will recognize a lot of these underground classics. But to put them all together in a single cohesive live set was a real treat, and something I’ve been meaning to do for many years.
